REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT

The State of Georgia implemented an initiative called Work Ready Georgia. Jefferson Energy Cooperative’s application procedure incorporates Work Ready Georgia standards which include the WorkKeys testing process. We require applicants interested in employment with Jefferson Energy Cooperative to take the following WorkKeys tests.

A job profile has been completed for comparable positions at Jefferson Energy Cooperative. A profile determines the scoring levels needed for someone to be qualified to successfully perform any given job. Scoring levels range from <3-7. The scoring levels are:

  Dispatcher Meter Reader

Locating Information Level 4 Level 4
Reading for Information Level 4 Level 4
     

  Fleet Technician Line Worker

Applications submitted to Jefferson Energy Cooperative WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED if the applicant has not met the above scoring requirements of the job for which he/she is applying. Note: We only accept applications and/or resumes when there is a position open. We require a copy of the individual test level scores, not the certificate.

WorkKeys tests can be taken at any technical college in the State of Georgia. For additional information about Work Ready Georgia and WorkKeys log on to www.gaworkready.org. Local testing can be done at Oconee Fall Line Technical College- 478-553-2093 , Augusta Technical College - 706-771-5705  or any One Stop Career Center.

Please note that as of February 1, 2012 the Governor's Office of Workforce Development implemented policy changes to the Georgia Work Ready Program. Below is the notice from the Governor's Office.

The Work Ready assessment will now be offered only to unemployed individuals or individuals looking to apply for a job listed on workreadyconnect.org. The Governor’s Office of Workforce Development (GOWD) makes workreadyconnect.org available free of charge to individuals and companies that recognize Work Ready as part of their hiring process.

Individuals wishing to assess must be able to prove unemployment status or provide the test proctor with the code of the job that they wish to apply.  Eligible jobs (and codes) may be found on Work Ready Connect.  Jobs that are not listed on Work Ready Connect will not qualify an individual for the GOWD paid assessment, therefore the fees will be the responsibility of the applicant.

Accepted verification of unemployment includes:
- Official proof of Department of Labor unemployment benefits within the last year. (Examples: pay stubs or verification of direct deposit of benefits)
- Official notice of TANF benefits for the unemployed within the last year
- A letter of separation from their previous employer dated within the last 12 months
